The Honda CR-V has long been one of the country’s best-selling crossovers; now, after a complete redesign, the 2017 CR-V is making strides toward being the undisputed best-selling crossover. So what does this brand-new SUV have going for it?
The Little Details Matter
Of course, not every feature or update on the 2017 Honda CR-V is apparent upon first glance. New for this year are some subtler flashes of flair, such as dual exhaust outlets, a chunkier and longer frame, higher ground clearance, smaller steering wheel, and improved suspension system. Individually, these updates might not be striking to the average driver, but together they make for a wholly worthwhile ride.
The Bigger Details Matter More
Inside the 2017 Honda CR-V is where the magic happens. The cabin is enveloped in lusciousness from dash to liftgate. Materials feel softer and more upscale, the seats and steering wheel are contoured to emphasize comfort, and available matte wood accents transform the CR-V into something special. The CR-V’s new central stack and console is a dream come true. A deeper storage compartment sits at the front of the console and it accentuated by resizable cup holders, a removable organizer, and a cushioned armrest.
With respect to passenger comfort, the 2017 CR-V steps in the right direction by adding two inches of rear legroom and power-adjustable front seats. Even cargo space has improved—39.2 cu. ft. with the seats up and a maximum 75.8 cu. ft. when seats are folded down—to ease the CR-V into “not-compact SUV” territory. This additional cargo space puts Honda’s crossover at the top of the list, beating out its main competitor the RAV4.
Standard features and equipment have also been upped in most 2017 CR-V trims. You’ll find inclusions like a digital instrumentation cluster, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, adaptive cruise control, four USB ports, a foot-activated power liftgate, and a number of additional Honda Sensing systems. A revamped touchscreen and infotainment interface are also noteworthy additions for the ’17 model.
