Where To See Christmas Light Displays In Miami Valley, OH

From Dayton to Beavercreek to Springfield, Miami Valley is home to many spectacular Christmas light shows and displays. In the seasonal spirit of giving, we’d like to give you a list of some of the best places in the region to see Christmas lights and holiday decorations. Let’s go!

Walking Through The Wonderful Woodland Lights

Open nights in December, the Woodland Lights display in Washington Township is truly a sight to be seen. Visitors walk along a half-mile path through the beautiful Countryside Park to view sparkling lights reflecting off a woodland pond. In addition to the colorful displays, sightseers will also enjoy carriage rides, live animals, festive treats from local food trucks, amusement rides, and the opportunity to visit Santa and his trusty elves inside a historic log cabin.

This Christmas lighting display is open until Saturday, December 23rd. Adults are $8 and children under two are free.

The Legendary Lights of Clifton Mill

About thirty miles east of Dayton is the historic Clifton Mill, which features over 4 million Christmas lights that illuminate the surrounding gorge, trees, and riverbanks. Watch for the spectacular synchronized light and music show from the old covered bridge every hour, on the hour. Take a peek inside Santa’s workshop where you’ll see Saint Nick getting ready for his big night; every fifteen minutes or so, Father Christmas checks his naughty-and-nice list, gathers the toys and heads up the chimney to load his sleigh.

This Christmas list show is open through December 31st. Adults are $10 and children six and under are free.

Light Up Middletown

Open through New Year’s Eve, Light Up Middletown is an annual drive-thru Christmas attraction that’s available to motorists. This donation-driven holiday display features appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus (on Friday and Saturday nights) along with dozens of decorations that include everything from a floating sea serpent to road-leaping reindeer. Visitors enter through a brightly lit tunnel and continue their adventure through the 100-acre park. It’s definitely one of our favorite Christmas light displays near Dayton.

Light Up Middletown will close December 31st. Admission price is negotiable at the gate.

Drive-Thru Fort St. Clair’s Whispering Christmas

What started out in 1987 with just 800 lights, has blossomed into a giant Christmas show and display that features over 2 million lights! Another drive-thru holiday attraction just outside of Dayton, Fort St. Clair’s Whispering Christmas in Eaton is magical. Traveling pilots and their passengers can stop by Santa’s Cabin (Wednesday through Sunday) up until December 23. During the week before Christmas Eve, the cabins are open daily for holiday visitors to enjoy.

This Eaton Christmas attraction is open through December 31st. Donations are recommended.

Holiday In Lights At Sharon Woods

Just south of Dayton, Sharon Woods is home to the annual Holiday In Lights display, which can be enjoyed by motorists from the comfort of their cars. Spectators will soak in over a million lights and more than 120 displays on their mile-long trek through beautiful Sharon Woods. Special-effects glasses give some newly added displays that eye-opening pop, wonderfully decorated trees run throughout the area, and Santa Claus and his trusty elves will be on hand, along with almost every animal from the biblical ark.

It’s open through December 31st. Admission is $15 per car and $45 for buses.

BONUS: Visit Santaland Following A Trip Through Sharon Woods

Granted this isn’t a light show, it’s a great way to stretch out your legs before or after your trip through Sharon Woods. Just outside the Holiday In Lights adventure, Santaland provides travelers with their favorite hot holiday beverages, baked goods, Christmas Confections, and a nature-themed gift shop. Be sure to check out the festive train display and take pictures with Santa. During select show times, visitors can experience Evette Green, The Talking Christmas Tree, a Jolly Elf Show, Dickens Carolers, and Ebenezer Scrooge.

Santaland at Sharon Centre is open through December 23rd. No additional admission is required for Santaland or its shows, though prices vary on retail items and pictures with Santa.
